Cory Allen from Scatter New York 10.03.2022

3D video with Microsoft connect
-Talked a lot about Virtual Production methods and was extremely interesting to listen to
-Gave a lot of insight into real-time editing and rendering
-Got to experience working with a Microsoft connect and a Depthkit Plug-in for Unity
-I ended up having an animated 3D model of me!!

-Volumetric filmmaking, have not known much about it before

I was absolutely delighted by the lesson we had with Cory. Before I have known close to nothing about virtual production. During the lesson he talked about volumetric video and motion capture, since I have just finished a unit where I got to play around with the Rokoko suit it was fascinating to learn about other different ways of setting up the scene for photogrammetry and motion capture and the fact that this is done in realtime too was a revelation.

Robert Twomey on Embodied Code 18.04.2022

-Very relevant since it is about educational structures in VR
-Teaching coding is a complicated matter and could take ages, the guys at Embodied Code came up with an amazing node-based system
-It was great to get a file to explore for yourself and test the program

As a person who isn’t fluent in any coding languages and have barely touched them in the past, I found this creative way to teach people coding to be very self explanitory especially since today node based coding is gaining poplarity with Unreal Engine or Shader Graph in Unity or even Blender.

Imperial College Digital Lab 22.04.2022

-This was the highlight of my spring
-Amazing opportunity to meet people (networking) and check out the fasfacilitiesed to create VR
-Very similar to what I want to do in the future
-Useful to hear about VR in Education

The trip we had to the Digital Lab in Imperial College was absolutely outstanding and very vital to me. Since I want to go into the Healthcare VR industry, this was bullseye in relevance to my personal practice. Talking with the technical team of DML was extremely insightful and gave me a better idea of what is looked after in the Educational Medical VR industry today. When it came to facilities, I am not much of an expert on technical camera equipment and photogrammetry, so seeing it in real life felt more educational than hearing about it theoretically. As for the VR experiences we got to try, I was happy to see their progress work on room-scale VR since I think it is still an underused concept and has huge potential. Pico Head Mounted Display was a new one for me, I have not heard about it before and certainly never tried it for myself.

Phoenix Perry InteractML 06.05.2022

-Really liked her
-Very enthusiastic
-Was the interactive lesson
-Talked about biases in new-age data policies
-Gave real-life examples of projects which would apply such algorithms
-Cool to know she is associated with UAL and would love to meet her in life
Phoenix was quite a legend for showing our group one of the first looks into software that then completely blew up and became universally known. I was excited to see AI as a tool in the arts with a database created for art.
Along with learning a bit more about IteractML I have picked up a much better understanding of more well known uses of AI like Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3. Which is basically like the core of what Open AI and Dall.e is doing.
