AR detective game

I think it is about time I tell you people about my first and so far the only AR game that I have made.
Now “Game” is a bit of a strech for what it actually is, but generally I think it was a good start for my ongoing adventure in to exploring VR and extended reality in general.
Now a little run down of what exactly this is.

The task was to create an AR detective game, so my mind went instantly to expression of yourself I myself regularly take part in- graffiti.
So I have created a Padlet gameplay scenario with the details saying what will be the AR element in the game and what the basic gist is.

I did not have any trouble while making the project, everything came together smoothly.

If I could add something I would put more detail into each individual 3d model.
For example:
-Perfect a 3D graffiti, make it smooth and of the right material. Make it more realistic, apply a texture, animate it so it floas.
-Add more objects to the scene a map pop up.
– Create a more realistic graffiti writer, possibly animate him running away.
-Perhaps figure out a way to add sound to the objects if there is evenn a way.
-Print out big image targets and photograph the scene in a blue tunnel in Bermondsey.
-Write code to make the game playable.
etc.

The Game run down and story
You are in Neocity and you walk pass a freshly painted wall, the graffiti on it has a recognizable map of the area with a place market on it, that place is not far from where you are standing, looking around you spot spraypaint cans on the floor and wet paint. In the corner of your eye you see a person running away, you go after them to see who it is… You are too late, two guys in similar hoodies are standing near a wall, one of them iS the grafffiti writer who you have just vitnessed running away, but you are not sure witch one of them is him. The prints on the hoodies of the guys are of a dice with 7 dots on each. On the graffiti you saw if you have noticed there is a crew number 77. That is the guy who just drew the graff, the other guy has an antistyle scull graff on his hoodie. They are both graffiti writers, but you don’t know it, they surtainly do not know it either…or do they?
You will never walk alone.

The procces of making the AR game was not extremely intimidating or hard, it was curious to find out what are SDKs and plugins for Unity, Vuforia turned out to be self explanitory and not complicated to work with. Modelling the objects for Target Images was fun and helpful, I learnt more about modelling and Maya interface as well as dipped my toes into 3D modelling for the first time.

Overall I am pleased with the outcome, but there is always room to grow.
